Abstract

This study, themed “Political Nomadism in Mozambique: Causes and Consequences,” was developed in response to concerns about changes in party affiliation in Mozambique. The topic is extremely important in terms of contributing to a deeper understanding of political nomadism in Mozambique, its causes and consequences. The study is justified, among other reasons, by the political situation in Mozambique, which has been characterized by an excessive turnover of members from one party to another. This phenomenon is characterized by the simple fact that some politicians change parties on the eve of elections, causing much unease in society. According to Tine (2021), sometimes this phenomenon occurs in the non-election period, and in many cases, the change at this time is carried out by few members compared to the election period, where departures are generally in groups (p. 14).
